PDX Relocation

Big news! I have relocated to Portland, OR. Getting my house ready to sell and moving has kept me very preoccupied over the last few months. I have a great new studio here in Portland and have been creating some amazing new work lately. I look forward to this new city and sharing my adventures here.

Super G

So normally I do not post testimonials as I think my work speaks more than words do, but this testimonial I recently received was different. Instead of the usual "I love the photos" or "You made me look amazing" letters, this spoke to how my work translated to her success in the real world of modeling. So I felt this one was worth sharing. Enjoy!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Don I just wanted to write you a note thanking you for not only being an amazing photographer but a genuine friend to me as well. Since I started modeling you have been one of the most influential people in terms of helping me accomplish everything that I have thus far. Your photographs are by far one of the best investments a model could ever make. They have helped me sign with an agency, helped casting directors notice me and helped to set my comp cards and book apart from other girls. Aside from the quality of your work I also appreciate your taking the time to coach me and help me to be a better model.

Bookers constantly tell me how clients appreciate how easy I am to work with and how they are able to get the shots they want in half the amount of time as other models. I have to give the credit to you on that one! I remember the first time I shot with you lol! Wow did I have a lot to learn. You were the first one to actually sit me down and give me advice on how to “model”, which angles worked for me, how to place my hands how to change up my looks to give subtle variety in every shot. There are plenty of modeling “schools” out there that I’m sure would have charged a fortune for the advice you were able to give me in the first 15 minutes of shooting. It’s far cheaper for a new model getting into the business to hire you and get the quality shots they need to book jobs, the advice and experience they need to get callbacks, and the exposure they need to get established in the industry.

On top of all of that you have always been there to offer advice and lend support which I am very grateful for. Thanks again for everything you have done for me, and I look forward to sharing future successes with you!

Beyond the images - Jenny

Beyond the images there is always a real person or story. I thought this model's story was worth sharing...

A year ago when I met Jenny, all she wanted was a chance to model. From her look and height you would think she could easily. However, Jenny is permanently disabled from a horrible car accident when she was 18. This beautiful girl has a lot of trouble moving, walking and communicating like she used to. From what Jenny told me... potential jobs only slammed the door in her face, modeling agencies rejected her immediately, and photographers couldn't see past her disabilities.

Personally, I did see potential in her look and booked a shoot with her despite her disability. The results being the images you see above. Not only did Jenny have a great look, but she had a great enthusiasm for the process. She moved and posed really well and was more than willing to try. I was more than pleased with our results, but beyond that it felt good knowing I gave her a chance when no one else seemed willing to.

Since then... that chance encounter and shoot has turned into something great for Jenny. After our shoot, I saw a casting call looking for models with disabilities for a reality show in the UK. I passed the casting call on to Jenny and suggested she apply. She sent them photos from our shoot with her information and was chosen to be featured in a new BBC series Britain's Missing Top Model ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/beauty/ ). She recently returned from filming in London and described it as "the greatest experience of my life". I am proud of what Jenny has accomplished here and only wish her continued success.
